Alexander Montague-Sparey splits his time between London and Lille. A visual artist using film and photography as his medium.
Alexander’s work explores gender and its relationship with performance. In his Moon series the works are displayed as three dimensional objects, visually confusing the viewer as to their status as photography, painting or sculpture. Themes of desire, meditation and self-exploration are intertwined throughout this body of work and accompanying moving image film .
Alexander Montague-Sparey holds a Masters degree in History of Art from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social and Political Sciences from the University of Durham. He also has recently graduated with a MA at Goldsmiths, University of London, in Artists’ Film and Moving Image.
He was awarded a scholarship by the Rambert School to train professionally in ballet and contemporary dance.
